Centrally located in the Dordogne in Hautefort, only 2 km from the
dramatic Chateau (castle), the Wisteria House is a charming Stone
Perigordian Farm House set upon a hill in a hamlet of old stone houses
dating from the 1700's. Enjoy the spectacular valley views from your
terrace, the pool, or the bedrooms! It is a great bicycling and walking
area with rolling hillsides and lovely forest and valley views. All
services are within walking distance down a tranquil country lane: 1 km to
boulangerie, large grocery store, and bank. 2 km to tabac, post office,
and the office of tourism. 2.5km to a swimming lake.
There are many famous tourist, historical, and prehistoric sites: grottes
(caves), Troglodyte sites, Bastille towns, Castles, and old villages are
less than 1-hour drive away (Lascaux is only 20 minutes).
Many sporting activities in the area: basketball, tennis, soccer,
volleyball, bocce, canoeing, fishing, etc...
The Perigord is famous for it's food: black truffles, canard, pate de fois
gras, cepes, and walnuts, with many good restaurants in the area. The wine
regions of Bergerac and Bordeaux are only 1 hour to 1.5 hours away.
Step back in time to the old France of farms and castles and caves and
stone villages; and after touring, enjoy a wonderful bottle of Bergerac or
Bordeaux Wine with some of France's best cheeses!
